Seed lamp 1
Abid Javed
Concept
In the Seed lighting collection, Abid Javed fuses shapes inspired by seed skeleton with the material of clay, realised as a table lamp. Through this fusion, he highlights the interaction between materials and evokes the changes and transformations that occur at the cellular and molecular level, translated as a sculptural design object.

Trained in molecular biology, Abid Javed bases his pieces on an abstract and surreal approach, creating sculptural landscapes inspired by biology and its narratives. He explores concepts ranging from cells and molecules to biomorphism, integrating his cultural heritage with references to Islamic art, geometry and 20th century design. He mainly uses ceramics, which, combined with other materials, creates innovative pieces that are somewhere between sculpture and design.
